Hi, I’m Lynne!

Author of I am NOT a Dirty Bitch

My Story

Having survived a challenging childhood which involved physical and emotional abuse I have been able to accept that whilst I cannot change or have any control of the past, I am responsible for my future.

There have been many lessons I have learnt on my healing journey through engaging in a variety of different therapies, which are outlined in my book I am NOT a Dirty Bitch.

When I told my mother of the sexual abuse, I was being subjected to she called me a dirty bitch.

Unfortunately, I believed her and lived with the shame and guilt for many years which had a profound effect on me.

Personality Traits associated with childhood trauma include:

Always apologising

People Pleasing

Frozen Emotions (unable to feel)

Addictions or self harm

Fearful

Helping others as avoidance of own needs

Neglecting own needs

My Approach

When all these traits were evident in my life I existed as a robot devoid of emotions and feelings running on a collection of self-limiting beliefs and an inability to love myself.

As a direct consequence of this in 2013 I experienced burnout due to prolonged stress associated with running a busy holistic clinic. I was recently a key speaker at a conference in America where I shared my healing journey. The presentation was entitled The Beauty of Burnout. As it was through burnout that I finally addressed my self-limiting beliefs and learnt to be kind to myself by considering my own personal needs.

My commitment to you is to offer you support as you address your own self-limiting beliefs which possibly originated in childhood. By becoming aware of these often unfounded believes we can start to heal ourselves by letting go of the past and learning how to connect to your true self, which is instrumental if we are to achieve optimum physical and emotional health.

  • It is estimated that 1 in 3 victims of child sex abuse never tell anyone at the time, this equates to several thousands of people living with a dark secret, which has been proven to be the cause of many health issues.
  • It is only due to its secretive nature that child sexual abuse is allowed to flourish with the consequence of keeping its victims in often a traumatised state which has a detrimental effect on physical, mental and emotional health.
